Our Story

Rooted in Tradition. Guided by Whimsy.

This isn't your typical "founded in a garage" story. It started somewhere more personal, in the quiet, sometimes difficult space of living with a body that needs extra care.

As a cancer survivor and someone navigating life with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), skincare stopped being a luxury and became a necessity. The problem? The products I needed didn't exist. Everything was either loaded with ingredients I couldn't trust, or so clinical it felt joyless. I wanted something that worked and brought a little delight into the routine.

So I made it myself. And then I couldn't stop.

What We Actually Are

Bath and Body Hurts is part apothecary, part art studio, part community project. We make simple, safe skincare ...and we also make what I lovingly call consumable art: products so beautifully crafted they feel like they belong in a gallery, but are made entirely to be used, enjoyed, and shared.

Every ingredient is chosen with intention. Every formula is tested with care. Nothing goes into our products that I wouldn't put on my own skin.

Tradition Meets a Little Mischief

I draw deeply from time-honoured traditions, old recipes, botanical wisdom, the kind of knowledge passed down through generations of people who made things with their hands. But I refuse to take it all too seriously.

Whimsy is not an afterthought here. It's a design principle. You'll find it in the names, the colours, the unexpected combinations, and the occasional product that makes you smile before you've even opened the lid.

Community Is the Point

This business has always been bigger than skincare. A portion of what we earn goes back to local charities, because good ingredients and good neighbours go hand in hand. When you buy from Bath and Body Hurts, you're supporting something that supports others.

That matters to me. A lot.

A Note on the Name

Yes, the name is a little cheeky. Yes, it means exactly what you think. Living with chronic illness taught me that humour is a survival skill  and that the best way to talk about hard things is sometimes with a wink.

Welcome to the shop. I hope something here makes you feel taken care of.
